Site Safety Supervisor

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement the company’s health and safety policies, ensuring full compliance with local safety regulations, industry standards, and the requirements of Malaysia’s Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly site safety inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and implement prompt corrective measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Enforce safety protocols across all construction activities, monitor the proper use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), and correct any non-compliant behaviors on-site immediately.
  • Develop and deliver regular safety training programs, including toolbox talks, to site workers, subcontractors, and other relevant personnel, ensuring all staff are familiar with safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Investigate all safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents on-site, determine their root causes, prepare detailed investigation reports, and propose preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Liaise with CIDB and other relevant regulatory bodies to ensure site operations comply with all mandatory safety requirements, and maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, training, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and site teams to integrate safety practices into daily operations and project planning, ensuring safety is prioritized throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and maintain safety documentation, including daily inspection reports, weekly safety summaries, monthly safety performance reports, and training records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Promote a positive safety culture on-site, encourage workers to report potential hazards, and lead by example in adhering to all safety guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Essential Certification: Must hold a valid Yellow Card issued by Malaysia CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) – this is a mandatory requirement for this role, as it demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out construction safety work legally and effectively in Malaysia.
  • Educational Background: Diploma or above in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are an added advantage.
  • Work Experience: At least 2 years of proven experience as a Site Safety Supervisor or similar role in the construction industry in Malaysia. Experience in managing safety for medium to large-scale construction projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Malaysian construction safety regulations, CIDB guidelines, and industry best practices. Familiarity with FMA 1967 and BOWEC Reg 25 is an advantage.

  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with workers, subcontractors, and management at all levels.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for preparing reports and training materials.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a high sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
    • Fluency in Chinese(spoken and written) – proficiency in Chinese is an added advantage.(Important)
  • Other Requirements: Physically fit to conduct regular site inspections, able to travel to different construction sites as required, and willing to work flexible hours when necessary (e.g., during project deadlines or emergency situations).
