Senior Technical Writer - Full Remote

Category: IT Services Location: Fort Western Province Sri Lanka For an international institution, we are urgently looking for a Full Remote - Senior Technical Writer. As Technical Writer, you will be responsible for technical documentation of a variety of solutions and projects, through their lifecycle. This includes documentation for new systems as well as the creation and update of documentation for legacy systems. We require an experienced and highly motivated technical writer with a strong desire to make an impact. Candidates need to be fluent in English. All positions are long-term. This position is open for freelancers and employees. Candidates need to be able to work some New York hours. (Example 9 AM NY time equals 7:30 PM). Tasks and Responsibilities: - Work with product managers, technical leads, and developers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including system design, architecture diagrams, requirement documents, user guides, integration guides, API developer guides, system embedded documentation (tooltips, welcome instructions, and tutorials); - Work closely with the team in NY to obtain precise information on the developed/deployed systems, tools, and APIs; - Using direct access to the source code, verify the validity of technical documentation; - Be responsible for writing, updating, and proof-reading existing technical documentation, compiling all technical documentation through professional and standard layouts; - Ensure that existing guidelines on document accessibility in the UN are followed; - Set up and implement the standardized process, document repository, and visual layout for internal technical documentation across systems; Profile: - Bachelor or Master degree; - +5 years of hands-on experience with Technical Writing with a proven track record of creating written documentation, tutorials, and other training materials; - Strong resource management skills with the ability to distribute resources across multiple assignments based on priority and availability; - An ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and systems, communicating them in writing in a clear manner suitable for audiences of all degrees of technical ability; - Motivated self-starter, who independently takes projects through to completion; - Experience creating and maintaining technical documents including system and software architectures, workflow details, API requirement documents, and infrastructure diagrams; - Excellent skills in producing documents with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint; - Experience accessing source code on GitLab and MS Team Foundation Server; - Experience with MS SharePoint Online and MS Teams; - Experience working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, YAML, JSON; - Experience working with screen recorders and video tools would be an advantage; - Experience in creating C4 diagrams is desirable; - Experience in documenting accessibility-related content is a plus; - Experience in documenting for multilingual projects is desirable; - Experience in doing technical documentation for AWS related projects is desirable; - Certification in Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or equivalent is a plus; Offered: - A challenging role for an international organization in New York; - Attractive salary package Interested: Please send your resume and motivation to apply@goproconsultancy.com or call us on +94 114312515 for more information.
