Position Summary We are seeking to hire a Senior Scientist who has experience in psychoneuroimmunology, environmental exposures, biospecimen collection, and/or human subjects research. This position will collaborate with the Principal Investigators on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects, including working on several funded projects managing biospecimen (blood, tissue, saliva, stool, etc.) collection, processing, and analysis. Scientist will consult on timing of biosample processing for the collection of data, and how to analyze and present collected data. Troubleshooting and optimizing protocol of commercially available kits for biospecimen analysis (e.g. ELISA kits) is an important part of this position. This role will assist with grant preparation and writing, and generate ideas for new grants using existing biospecimens, as well as assist in managing ongoing research projects (including training of study staff and coordinating with internal and external collaborators). Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborates on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting. May submit grant proposals in some circumstances with the approval of the PI, Department Head and Dean.
- Prepares and submits papers on research.
- Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
- Troubleshoots and optimizes protocol of commercially available kits for biospecimen analysis (e.g., ELISA kits).
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.
- Assist in managing ongoing research projects, including training and supervision of study staff, and coordinating with internal and external collaborators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards.
- Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
