Duties

  • Engage with prospective clients via phone, email, and virtual meetings to understand their homeownership goals and financial situations.
  • Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and financial data to assess loan eligibility and determine appropriate mortgage products.
  • Utilize Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and mortgage servicing software to process applications efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct thorough negotiations with clients to secure favorable loan terms while ensuring adherence to Fair Housing regulations and industry compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with underwriters, escrow officers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth loan processing and underwriting procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines, TILA (Truth in Lending Act), and other relevant mortgage regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with clients by providing transparent communication, explaining contracts, escrow processes, and mortgage options clearly.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Loan Officer or in retail lending within the mortgage or banking industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in loan origination, processing, underwriting, and mortgage servicing procedures.
  • Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), accounting software, financial software, and basic math skills including 10-key typing accuracy.
  • Strong negotiation skills combined with excellent customer service abilities to foster trust and client satisfaction.
  • Deep understanding of Fair Housing regulations, TILA, FNMA guidelines, and industry-specific compliance standards.
  • Ability to analyze credit reports, Run AUS, perform risk assessments for commercial lending when applicable, and interpret financial data accurately.
  • Effective relationship-building skills in financial sales environments along with a proactive approach to client communication.
  • Knowledge of banking regulatory compliance including escrow processes and mortgage contracts.
