Reporting Intern, Fall 2026 (New York)
About the position
POLITICO is seeking exceptional college students and recent graduates for its Fall 2026 reporting internship in New York. This role involves pitching, reporting, and writing consequential stories for both influential professionals in New York and POLITICO's wider national readership. Interns will cover spot news, work with the New York Playbook team to produce the daily newsletter on state politics, and be involved in all aspects of content creation and production, including research, reporting, writing, editing, and aggregating. Some of this work may occur in early morning hours.
Responsibilities
- Pitch, report and write stories of consequence
- Cover spot news as assigned by editors
- Work with our New York Playbook team to write and produce our daily newsletter on politics in the state
- Be involved in all aspects of content creation and production, including research, reporting, writing, editing and aggregating
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest in New York politics and policy
- Strong foundational reporting and writing skills
- Excellent news judgment
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Proven experience in a newsroom
- At least one professional news media internship or job preferred
