[Remote] Senior Accountant

They are seeking a Senior Accountant to support and scale accounting operations across their global business, overseeing month-end close activities and managing reconciliations while leveraging AI and automation to improve processes. Responsibilities Oversee assigned areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accurate financial reporting following U.S. GAAP and Avalara accounting policies Lead global operating expense accounting activities, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, intercompany charges, reclasses, and variance analysis across multiple departments and international entities Perform account reconciliations across domestic and international operations, identifying reconciling items, aging balances, process gaps, and control weaknesses Partner with FP&A, business leaders, and budget owners to analyze spending trends, validate accrual assumptions, explain forecast-to-actual variances, and improve financial visibility across the organization Apply accounting judgment to expense recognition, foreign currency matters, intercompany activity, and other accounting issues arising in a multinational environment Guide automation and programs by using ERP capabilities, AI technologies, workflow tools, and data visualization platforms to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and increase scalability Design, implement, or enhance AI-enabled accounting workflows, bots, agents, reconciliations, and close support processes that improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls Maintain SOX controls and operational accounting processes, serving as an important liaison for internal and external audits. This includes moving our environment from detective to preventative controls Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in global operational accounting, corporate accounting, or public accounting environments supporting multinational organizations Experience operating expense accounting, monthly close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis in complex organizations Demonstrated experience managing accounting activities in global or multi-entity environments, including exposure to foreign currency accounting, intercompany transactions, and international operations Experience with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance requirements Experience improving and scale accounting operations through automation, systems optimization, workflow redesign, and AI-enabled process improvements Hands-on experience applying AI tools, workflow automation platforms, bots, agents, or data tools to modernize accounting and finance processes Experience with large ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar enterprise platforms Experience with Power BI, data visualization tools, or analytical platforms Benefits This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
