[Remote] Project Manager

R Systems is seeking an experienced EPMO Project Manager to support large-scale initiatives within a Public Sector / Government environment, particularly in transportation-related programs. The role involves leading cross-functional projects, managing stakeholder communication, and ensuring successful execution of enterprise-level initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Responsibilities Lead and manage enterprise-level projects and strategic initiatives within a Public Sector / Transportation environment Work closely with executive leadership, program sponsors, PMO teams, and business/technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, scope, timelines, and deliverables Drive project execution for initiatives related to transportation operations, transit systems, infrastructure modernization, mobility programs, or enterprise technology transformation Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, and status reporting Ensure compliance with EPMO governance standards, project controls, and public sector reporting requirements Facilitate project kickoff meetings, stakeholder reviews, steering committee updates, and executive-level presentations Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests Coordinate with multiple teams across business operations, transportation program teams, IT, vendors, procurement, and executive leadership Monitor project performance using KPIs, dashboards, and status metrics, and provide regular updates to leadership Support development and maintenance of project documentation, including project charters, RAID logs, communication plans, executive status reports, and lessons learned Ensure adherence to organizational policies, PMO methodologies, and best practices in project and program delivery Assist in portfolio-level planning, prioritization, and project intake processes where applicable Skills 8+ years of experience in Project Management, with strong exposure to Enterprise PMO / EPMO environments Proven experience managing projects in Public Sector / Government organizations Experience supporting Transportation domain initiatives, such as Transit / Rail / Bus / Mobility programs, Transportation infrastructure modernization initiatives, Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) or operational improvement projects, Transportation-related enterprise application, PMO, or digital transformation efforts Strong understanding of project governance, portfolio reporting, risk/issue management, and executive communication Experience managing cross-functional teams, including business, operations, and IT stakeholders Strong knowledge of project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid Hands-on experience with project planning and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership and executive stakeholders Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience with budget tracking, resource coordination, and schedule management Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification preferred Experience working within an Enterprise PMO (EPMO) or centralized governance structure Familiarity with public sector procurement, compliance, audit, and reporting processes Experience supporting large-scale transformation, modernization, digital services, or enterprise technology initiatives Exposure to portfolio management, PMO maturity frameworks, and executive dashboard reporting Prior experience with state, local, or regional transportation agencies is highly preferred Experience working on projects involving transportation operations, infrastructure programs, mobility solutions, or transit technology platforms is a strong plus Company Overview R Systems is a global provider of technology and analytics services.
