[Remote] Partnership Tax Manager, Advanced Computational Services

BDO USA is a leading accounting and advisory firm, and they are seeking a Partnership Tax Manager to advise clients on tax implications related to partnerships. The role involves maintaining a deep understanding of partnership taxation, supervising team members, and enhancing client benefits through effective tax strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Maintains and develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation
  • Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysis
  • Identifies complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research process
  • Trains associates and senior associates on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis
  • Involves firm specialists, as appropriate
  • Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes
  • Applies the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions
  • Maximizes client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing risk
  • Implements applicable Firm strategies
  • Manages client expectations
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation
  • May be required to participate in organizing and conducting, effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at a minimum of once per year
  • Trains and mentors’ associates, senior associates, and managers
  • Supervises associates and senior associates on all projects
  • Reviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provides review comments
  • Trains associates and senior associates on how to use all current software tools
  • Acts as a career advisor to associates and senior associates
  • Schedules and manages workload of associates and senior associates
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required
  • Specialized partnership experience, required
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively delegate work as needed
  • Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and manage a team of tax professionals
  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain client relationships
  • Solid organizational skills, especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently and within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with firm and client personnel and the ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
  • Ability to cultivate a positive team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of team personnel
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
  • Master's in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience, preferred
  • Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferred
  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred
  • Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
  • Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, preferred
