Passenger Services Officer - Cape Town Airport

Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Passenger Services Officer to join our team at Cape Town International Airport. This front-line position plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience for passengers from check-in to boarding. You will be responsible for delivering excellent service, resolving passenger inquiries, and representing our company and our client airlines with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers with check-in procedures, boarding passes, baggage handling, and seat allocations.

  • Guide travelers through airport processes including security, customs, and immigration if necessary.

  • Handle special service requests such as wheelchair assistance, unaccompanied minors, or VIPs.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to passenger inquiries, complaints, and service disruptions.

  • Communicate clearly with other airport stakeholders, including ground staff, airline representatives, and security personnel.

  • Monitor flight schedules and ensure that boarding gates are properly managed and secured.

  • Ensure compliance with all airport and airline safety regulations.

  • Keep accurate records of passenger incidents, services rendered, and daily operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate is required.

  • Fluency in English; additional languages (especially local or international) are a strong advantage.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities.

  • Proficiency in using airport systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and assist with luggage when required.

  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and efficiently.

Experience

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably within an airport or travel environment.

  • Prior experience with airline check-in systems or passenger handling will be advantageous.

Working Hours

  • Must be willing to work on a rotational shift basis, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Shift schedules are based on airport operational hours and flight schedules.
