Job Description We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Part-Time Tax Manager (or senior accountant candidates looking for leadership roles) to oversee and manage tax returns (internal and external), tax reporting, and compliance. This fully remote, part-time role is ideal for a CPA with a background in U.S. taxation and a solid understanding of GAAP and intercompany transactions. Given the nature of this role, with a heavier workload during tax season (January to April), reliability and dependability are crucial. The primary focus of this role is to review returns prepared by staff accountants, file the returns, and virtually meet with clients to discuss their returns. • Candidates must ensure there are no conflicts of interest, non-competes, or other employment restrictions that would prevent them from fulfilling this role. All management, including this role, will be featured on our company directory. • Work Schedule • ? Pre-Tax Season Flexible hours based on projects and candidate availability and expertise to handle different projects some that are consistent month to month. • ? Tax Season 5-10 hours/week to ensure deadlines are met. Weekend work is an option for candidates. • ? Process Implementation • ? Implement best practices for tracking tax returns with software that tracks each individual/business from start to finish. • ? Assist in creating an automated efficient process for a growing tax business. • ? Assist with converting the internal GAAP chart of accounts to Tax project • ? Tax Compliance • ? Oversee the review of federal and state income tax returns, focusing on basic individual and business returns (50-75 returns prepared by a staff accountant, primarily individual returns). • ? Handle the more complex tax returns, such as partnerships, parent company with a wholly-owned subsidiary, if needed. • ? Knowledge with clients converting from SMLLC to S-Corps a plus • ? Sales Tax reporting experience is a plus, but not required. • ? Perform administrative tasks such as filing beneficiary reports. • ? Client Advisory and Review • ? Schedule and conduct one-on-one virtual meetings with clients to discuss and review their tax returns. • ? Serve as the main point of contact for tax-related inquiries from clients. • ? Supervise tax work performed by a staff accountant, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • ? Partnership Accounting • ? A strong understanding of partnership accounting, including tracking inside and outside basis in partnerships, is a plus. • ? Collaboration and Supervision • ? Collaborate with the internal team on ad-hoc financial projects. • ? Assist with intercompany transactions such as allocating payroll or billing affiliates for headcount every month • ? Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, especially during tax season. • ? Additional Skills • ? An automation mindset, focusing on streamlining and automating processes. • ? Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas (e.g., INDEX MATCH/XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, nested IF statements). • ? Financial modeling is a plus but not required. • ? Background in real estate (homebuilders and developers) is a plus but not required. • Qualifications • ? Licensure • ? Active CPA license required in Georgia or other states and up to date with CPE requirements. Candidates licensed in other states will be considered too. • ? Education • ? Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or related field required; Master's degree preferred. An MBA is a plus • ? Experience • ? Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation and review, focusing on small individual and small business tax returns. • ? Experience supervising and reviewing tax work from a staff accountant. • ? Strong partnership accounting experience is a plus. • ? Public accounting background is a plus, private practice experience preferred. • ? Customer service-oriented with strong leadership qualities to mentor junior staff. • ?
