Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?<br><br><strong>Summary<br><br></strong>As part of the District Services Team, this position is responsible for performing maintenance work and code compliance abatement in Downtown Temple and other assigned areas. The role also involves participating in special projects and adhering to safety policies while performing various maintenance tasks<br><br><strong>Essential Duties And Responsibilities</strong> <br><br><ul><li>Abatement</li><ul><li>Serves on a team to implement strategies to achieve code compliance </li><li>Performs code compliance abatement actions as assigned, including mowing private lots subject to mow orders </li><li>Performs maintenance tasks, light construction, paints, patches, power washes and mows </li><li>Removes trash/debris from streets and alleys </li><li>Delivers and monitors the tool trailer during neighborhood cleanups events, inspects, and maintains the equipment </li><li>Assists with projects including those involving entire neighborhoods, multiple property owners, high profile properties, and other complex situations </li><li>Participates in interdepartmental teams and with other partner organizations to provide comprehensive solutions for code compliance issues </li><li>Prepares and maintains accurate daily activity logs </li><li>Participates in special projects, duties may include the operation of heavy equipment such as a backhoe and skid steer to efficiently demolish buildings and a dump trump truck or roll-off truck for removing solid waste from demolition sites </li><li>Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li></ul><li>Projects</li><ul><li>Performs general building and ground maintenance, as assigned, including tasks such as mowing, painting, power washing, patching, weed eradication, cleaning and removal of trash and debris from streets and alleys and light construction </li><li>Participates in special projects as assigned </li><li>Delivers and monitors the tool trailer during neighborhood cleanups events, as scheduled, including inspecting and maintaining the equipment </li><li>Works closely with other members of the Transform Temple Team and the City’s Office of Community Development to implement strategies to achieve code compliance </li><li>Assists with Transform Temple and Community Development projects including those involving entire neighborhoods, multiple property owners, high profile properties, and other complex situations</li><li>Participates in interdepartmental teams and with other partner organizations to provide comprehensive solutions for code compliance issues </li><li>Prepares and maintains accurate and complete daily activity logs </li><li>Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing </li><li>Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned<br><br><br></li></ul></ul><strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>One (1) year of experience in maintenance work, lawn care, or a related field<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Certifications and Licenses<br><br></strong><ul><li>Valid driver’s license<br><br><br></li></ul>Thank you for your interest in the position.
