Head of Strategic Partnerships

Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

As Head of Strategic Partnerships, you will identify, structure, and drive the partnerships and business opportunities that define Remitly's next phase of growth. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role at the intersection of strategy, business development, and execution — responsible for expanding our reach, deepening our product offering, and building durable competitive advantages through external relationships.

You will lead new partnership development across distribution, product, and ecosystem channels, own the health and growth of our most critical existing partner relationships, and explore adjacent business lines that unlock new revenue streams. You will also play a key role in shaping corporate strategy and evaluating M&A opportunities, working closely with Finance, Legal, and executive leadership.

This role can be based out of our Seattle, Arlington, or London office, or worked US remotely, with periodic travel for meaningful in-person moments across the team and business.

You Will:

  • Build and execute Remitly's strategic partnerships roadmap — sourcing, structuring, and closing partnerships with digital wallets, neobanks, telcos, retailers, and platform companies to expand distribution and reach new customer segments.

  • Lead end-to-end deal execution, from initial outreach and relationship-building through term sheet negotiation, legal review, cross-functional alignment, and launch.

  • Own strategic relationships with Remitly's most important existing partners — ensuring alignment on shared goals, joint roadmaps, and commercial performance.

  • Identify and evaluate adjacent business opportunities beyond core remittances that leverage Remitly's customer base, brand, licenses, and payments infrastructure.

  • Contribute to corporate strategy by synthesizing partnership pipeline insights, competitive landscape analysis, and market trends into actionable recommendations for executive leadership.

  • Lead initial M&A evaluation and screening — including market mapping, strategic fit assessment, and preliminary financial modeling — and advance high-priority opportunities through due diligence and deal structuring.

  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and regional teams to ensure partnerships are operationally sound and strategically aligned.

  • Represent Remitly at industry conferences and in executive-level meetings with prospective partners and stakeholders.

You Have:

  • 10+ years in strategic partnerships, business development, or corporate strategy — with significant experience in payments, fintech, or financial services.

  • A proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing complex partnerships that drove measurable business impact across revenue, distribution, or product.

  • Deep understanding of the global payments ecosystem, including payment rails, digital wallets, banking infrastructure, and remittance economics.

  • Experience evaluating and executing M&A transactions or strategic investments, including financial modeling and due diligence.

  • Strong commercial acumen — you can build compelling business cases, model unit economics, and structure deals that create mutual value.

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, credible and effective with C-suite executives, founders, and cross-functional internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex opportunities into clear recommendations for executive and Board-level audiences.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a self-directed approach — you define the roadmap, not just execute against one.
