This role leads food safety and quality management system compliance, for human and animal food manufacturing facilities across the upper United States; ensuring registrations, controls and best practices are in place to ensure safe, quality products are manufactured. Based out of Sioux Falls, SD, this hybrid position requires three days onsite each week for collaboration, plant engagement, and hands-on partnership with local teams, with the flexibility to work remotely two days per week. You’ll collaborate with diverse stakeholders, travel to facilities across the region, and balance office-based compliance work with real-world plant operations. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and strengthen the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure quality policies, procedures, and work instructions are current, controlled, and consistently applied
  • Analyze quality performance data to identify trends and process efficiency
  • Guide continuous improvement efforts based on quality metrics and performance insights
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints and product non-conformities
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Collaborate with plant leaders to define action plans, owners, timelines, and success criteria
  • Verify CAPA effectiveness through audits, data analysis, and performance reviews
  • Oversee the internal audit program
  • Identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate and manage external audits (preparation, on-site support, responses, follow-up)
  • Ensure audit findings are corrected, verified, and closed effectively and on time
  • Coordinate quality training to ensure employee competency
  • Coach leaders and teams on quality principles and accountability
  • Promote a proactive quality culture encouraging early issue reporting and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years food safety/quality experience in a food manufacturing or operational environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Food Manufacturing or other related degree programs
  • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for Food and/or Feed
  • Skilled in public speaking and group presentations
  • Knowledgeable in food safety regulations
  • Ability to travel 25-40% of time
  • Ability to support a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite in Sioux Falls, SD, 2 days remote)
