Downtown Service Worker (Part-time)

<p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;">The Town of Wendell is seeking a Downtown Service Worker - to work as a Part-time Public Work Specialist.  </p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;">The Downtown Service Worker will assist in the beautification and cleanliness of the Town’s downtown area.   The Downtown Service Worker is a part-time position reporting directly to the Public Works Crew Leader for Building and Grounds. </p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"><br></p><br><ul type="disc"><li>Perform general landscape maintenance 3 days per week<li>Mowing, blowing, fertilization, trimming, edging, pruning bushes, mulch and pine straw, etc<li>Ability to operate machinery<li>Work outdoors in various weather conditions<li>Reports any damaged equipment or low inventory items to Supervisor.<li>Attends all staff training prior to start. <li>Operates a Town vehicle and related tools and equipment. <li>Wears appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) such as safety vest, gloves, glasses etc. as required and as needed in the performance of the position.<li>Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.</ul> Responsibilities:<br><ul type="disc"><li>Provide upkeep of facility grounds or highway right-of-way by mowing, weed-eating, bush-hogging, spraying herbicides, and weeding by hand<li>Install and water plants and prune trees and shrubs<li>Operate machinery, including a Zero-Turn mower, tractor, string trimmer, edger, and backpack blower<li>Drive a commercial truck with trailer and haul materials and equipment under 26,000 pounds (non-CDL)<li>Perform preventative equipment maintenance, including replacing worn or damaged parts, sharpening blades, and greasing machinery<li>Operate snow removal equipment to maintain sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways</ul>Assist the Town of Wendell in cleanup and repair during inclement weather situations<ul style="margin-bottom: 3.0pt;"><li>General knowledge of how to clean using applicable tools and appropriate cleaning solutions and supplies.<li>Skill in the operation of light equipment and tools utilized in the work.  <li>Ability to maintain the downtown to specific standards.<li>Considerable knowledge of the work hazards and applicable safety standards associated with maintaining (emptying and cleaning) of trash receptacles, downtown dumpster enclosures, sidewalks, grassy areas, and downtown infrastructure. <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.<li>Ability to interact appropriately with downtown business owners, citizens, and visitors.</ul><p>Graduation from High School and/or experience in maintaining grounds and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </p><p><u>Special Requirements</u><br>A valid Driver's License.</p><br><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"><strong><u>FLSA Status</u></strong></p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;">The Downtown Service Worker is a part-time temporary position with the Town of Wendell and is not subject to overtime pay.</p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Disclaimer</u></strong></p><p style="margin: 0.0in;text-align: justify;">This job specification has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in a temporary, part-time position.
