CTE Teacher - Construction Technology/Electrical (2026-2027)

<p>Job Title: CTE - Architecture & Construction Wage/Hour Status: Exempt - Professional</p><p>Technology Teacher</p><p>Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: According to District's Teacher Salary Schedule</p><p>Dept./School: Assigned Campus Date Revised: January 21, 2021</p><p>Funding Source: 152 State CTE</p><p>District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.</p><p>District Primary Purpose: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation which will enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.</p><p>Qualifications: Option I</p><p>Bachelor's and 3 years wage earning experience within the</p><p>past eight years in approved occupations for which</p><p>instruction is offered or</p><p>Option II</p><p>Associates' and 3 years wage earning experience within the</p><p>past eight years in one or more approved occupations for</p><p>which instruction is offered or</p><p>Option III</p><p>High School Diploma and five years wage earning within the</p><p>past eight years in approved occupations for which</p><p>instruction is offered.</p><p>Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution</p><p>Or</p><p>An Associates' degree from an accredited institution</p><p>Or</p><p>High school diploma or equivalent</p><p>And (a) letter of acceptance from an approved educator preparation program listing Trade & Industrial Ed (T&I) and area of approval in which instruction is offered along with a Statement of Qualification (SOQ), or (b) Valid Texas teaching certificate in Trade & Industrial Ed or Vocational Ed. for which instruction is offered</p><p>Experience/Knowledge Be knowledgeable in effective schools research, principles of accreditation</p><p>standards, and Texas Education Agency requirements. Additionally, be</p><p>knowledgeable in teaching techniques and methodology, in the physical,</p><p>mental and emotional child development process, and special needs of</p><p>exceptional learners.</p><p>Major Responsibilities and Duties:</p><ul><li>Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and the times designated.</li><li>Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.</li><li>Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor within the effective schools research and framework for school excellence.</li><li>Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.</li><li>Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.</li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.</li><li>Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.</li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation to accomplish instructional goals and objectives.</li><li>Assist in formulating, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.</li><li>Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.</li><li>Attend and participate in faculty meetings.</li><li>Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.</li><li>Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.</li><li>Establish and maintain cooperative and professional relations with others.</li><li>Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.</li><li>Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.</li><li>Accept responsibilities for co-curricular activities as assigned when these activities do not interfere with a teacher's primary teaching assignment.</li><li>Follow all Work from Home Protocols when working remotely.</li><li>Perform other duties pertaining to Career and Technical Education as assigned by the school principal, and / or CTE Director.</li></ul><p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p><p>Mental Demands:</p><p>Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data. Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to interpret and implement TEA rules and regulations.</p><p>Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p><p>Occasional prolonged hours, regular physical demands of stooping, lifting, and other strenuous demands of job performance.</p><p>POSITION WORKING DAYS: 187 Days</p><p>All applications must be submitted to the La Joya I.S.D.
