CPA for Growing Accounting & CFO Firm (Remote) - Contract to Hire

Tallywise is a fast-growing outsourced bookkeeping and CFO firm focused primarily on small businesses, construction companies, retail, and service-based businesses. We’re looking for a CPA to work alongside our bookkeeping team to review financials, assist with tax work, provide higher-level accounting guidance, and help us continue building strong processes as we grow. This is not a “sit in meetings all day” role. We need someone practical, detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable working with a lean, fast-moving team. What You’ll Be Doing Review bookkeeping and financial statements prepared by staff accountants Assist with business and individual tax returns Provide tax planning and advisory recommendations Review month-end closes and reconciliations Help clean up accounting issues and identify errors Assist with client questions related to accounting/tax matters Help improve internal accounting processes and SOPs Work with construction, retail, and service-based clients Potentially oversee junior accounting staff as the role grows Requirements Active CPA license (US) Strong understanding of QuickBooks Online Experience reviewing bookkeeping work Tax preparation and tax planning experience Strong communication skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Construction accounting experience is a plus Experience with Gusto, QBO, payroll, or job costing is a plus What We’re Looking For We’re not looking for a “big firm” personality.
